OhioLINK and its member libraries benefit from many partners who collaborate with us on joint projects.
Digital Resource Commons - OhioLINK’s Digital Resource Commons (DRC) will be a robust, statewide platform that is able to provide access to the wealth of research, historic, educational and creative materials produced by Ohio’s scholarly communities. The DRC will enable Ohio colleges and universities to store, access and preserve all types and formats of digital materials, including audio, video, graphic images and text. It will also include capabilities for hosting and supporting institutional repositories, peer review e-journals, electronic theses and dissertations, and learning objects. The DRC is one of the three components of the Ohio Digital Commons for Education.
Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO) – Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO) is a partnership of Ohio libraries and library organizations that are working together to build and provide a core collection of information resources and library services, called the Ohio Web Library, that will help all Ohioans compete in the global knowledge economy. The LCO partners include: INFOhio, OhioLINK, Ohio Public Library Information Network, State Library of Ohio, Academic Library Association of Ohio, Ohio Educational Library Media Association, and the Ohio Library Council.
Ohio Digital Commons for Education (ODCE) – A collaborative initiative of the Ohio Learning Network, OhioLINK and the Ohio Supercomputer Center/OARnet, funded by a Technology Initiatives grant from the Ohio Board of Regents, to develop leading-edge education resources, services, and capabilities in Ohio. The commons supports campus sharing of course management system software, instructional materials, and electronic educational resources. By sharing common tools and resources, the ODCE provides a cost-effective, competitive advantage in the state.
Ohio Memory
Project – Administered by the Ohio Historical Society, the project provides access to
historical treasures of Ohio and brings together primary sources
from all parts of the state in an online scrapbook. OhioLINK
provides technical expertise, hosting and storage for the Ohio
Memory Project.
Ohio Web Library
– The Ohio Web Library is an evolving collection of thousands
of online publications and research resources, that are provided to
all Ohioans by Libraries Connect Ohio, a
partnership of Ohio’s libraries and library organizations.
The Ohio Web Library includes: popular magazines, trade
publications, scholarly research journals, newspapers from Ohio and
the nation, encyclopedias, dictionaries, speeches, poems, plays,
maps, satellite images of Ohio, and more. The Ohio Web Library
supports quality education, a skilled workforce, business growth,
and lifelong learning in Ohio. By providing resources statewide,
LCO can cost-effectively provide necessary information resources to
all Ohioans, regardless of their location, age, education or
economic status. Access to the Ohio Web Library resources is
provided to every Ohioan via Ohio’s academic, public and
school libraries.
Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) – The professional organization for Ohio academic librarians. Joint projects include Statehouse Connect Day, where academic librarians and staff visit Ohio legislators, and the Instruction Clearinghouse which contains instruction materials from Ohio’s academic libraries.
INFOhio – The information network for Ohio’s schools. Joint projects are conducted through Libraries Connect Ohio.
OARnet – A division of the Ohio Supercomputer Center funded by the Ohio Board of Regents to provide Internet access and other services for higher education institutions in the state. Joint projects are conducted through Ohio Digital Commons for Education.
Ohio Board of Regents – Ohio’s coordinating body for higher education. OhioLINK is one of four initiatives which the Ohio Board of Regents created and continues to oversee.
Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) – A professional organization dedicated to educational, literary and technological excellence in library/media services in Ohio’s schools. Joint projects are conducted through Libraries Connect Ohio.
Ohio Historical Society – A nonprofit organization that serves as the state’s partner in preserving and interpreting Ohio’s history, archaeology and natural history. OhioLINK provides technical expertise, hosting and storage for the Society’s Ohio Memory Project.
Ohio Learning Network (OLN) – A consortium of 65 public and independent colleges and universities in Ohio that helps Ohioans find courses and programs to fit their needs and works with colleges and universities to improve teaching and learning. OLN is an initiative of the Ohio Board of Regents. Joint projects are conducted through Ohio Digital Commons for Education.
Ohio Library Council (OLC) – The Ohio Library Council is the statewide professional association which represents the interests of Ohio’s public libraries as well as their trustees, Friends and staffs. Joint projects are conducted through Libraries Connect Ohio.
Ohionet – A non-profit library membership organization.
Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN) – OPLIN, funded by the Ohio General Assembly, offers Ohio residents fast, free access to the Internet and to subscription databases through Ohio’s local public libraries. Joint projects are conducted through Libraries Connect Ohio.
Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) – A technology initiative of the Ohio Board of Regents which provides the computational power, infrastructure, and expertise needed to answer the demands of the Ohio education and research community. Joint projects are conducted though the Ohio Digital Commons for Education.
State Library of Ohio – The State Library of Ohio is the principal research library for Ohio state government. The State Library also works to promote the development of library services and resource sharing throughout Ohio and to provide specialized library services to Ohio residents. Joint projects are conducted through Libraries Connect Ohio.
University System of Ohio – Ohio’s network of public colleges and universities includes 14 universities with 24 branch campuses and 23 community colleges working in a collaborative, cooperative environment across the state. With a mission to provide affordable, high quality higher education opportunities for all Ohioans, programs and curricula are designed to meet Ohioans’ needs for the 21st century.
